This section will show how to flash the EVK Supported Platform to the SD Card.
Download the EVK Linux release. https://www.nxp.com/design/software/embedded-software/i-mx-software/embedded-linux-for-i-mx-applications-processors:IMXLINUX
Under Supported Platforms/Binary Demo Files, select the i.MX 8M Plus EVK
Plug in the Micro SD Card Reader to your local computer and open Balena Etcher.
- On Balena Etcher, click “Flash from file” and choose the i.MX8M Plus EVK file that was downloaded.
- Next click “Select target” and choose the Micro SD Card Reader that is connected to your PC.
- Once you click “Flash” the process may last for several minutes.
- Once the Supported Platform is flashed to the SD Card, go ahead and insert the SD Card to the Micro SD Card Connector of the EVK.
Boot Mode
In order to boot from the SD card, the BOOT jumpers need to set properly. Set the BOOT MODE DIP switches (SW4) on the EVK to 0011 as shown.

After setting the boot jumpers, and installing the SD card, the EVK can be powered up and should boot and be ready to use. Install any peripheral devices (camera, HDMI cable etc.) before applying power to the EVK board.
